Dyson under pressure in home stage race

This weekend saw Carl Dyson, Dave Palmer and Mike Cowland from www.cyclingbargains.com racing team in action in their home race organised by Leicestershire Road Club.
Stage 1 was a 2.4mile time trial at Mallory just over the hill from the teams base in Ellistown. Carl Dyson finished 9th seven seconds behind stage winner Jack Adams from Loughborough.
Stage 2 was a circuit race at Mallory Park which saw a number of breaks go clear with Carl, Dave or Mike present in a number of them. Dave Palmer was unlucky enough to be involved in a crash at one stage but was able to rejoin the race again. It looked like the stage would go to Keith Haddon or Andy Eagers as they worked together in a two man break for most of the race but they were caught within the closing 2 miles by a group of 6 riders including Carl Dyson. On the final time up the hill it was Dyson who gritted his teeth to outsprint Will Fox and Graham Galvin for stage victory.
Dyson started stage 3 with a 12 second advantage and when an early break went clear the 12 lap (66mile) race at Bagworth it was team mate Dave Palmer who clipped onto the back of the break to police its progress. The break was caught with 3 laps to go (16mile) and Dyson looked comfortable for the uphill sprint that was to come when disaster struck and Dyson punctured on the newly heavily gritted country lanes. With team mate Cowland alongside him the quickly swapped wheels and radioed Palmer to come back for them. The team then chased for 6 miles to attempt to regain the race, but as it was nearing its closing stages and with riders knowing the race leader had punctured the speed increased and www.cyclingbargains.com racing team were unable to regain their place.
The stage was taken by Andy Eagers from Will Fox in the final sprint, on a reverse of the final overall standings with Shane Leadley taking third place on the stage and overall.
