Swain takes 10th in Peterborough

With just 5 road races remaining in the 2008 season Andy Swain from www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis Racing Team was in action again on a wet and windy morning in the Peterborough Cycling Club Road Race.

The 90km event at Sawtry in Cambridgeshire covered a rolling course but with exposed roads in places the winds played a part as the race unfolded.

Covering 8 laps of the circuit it was eventual race winner Malcolm Smith from neighbouring Fenland Clarion who attacked with two other riders with just 18 miles to go. One rider was later dropped from the lead group. At the bell for the final lap the head wind on the climbs up to Great Gidding split the field leaving a group of 15 riders, including Swain racing for third place. Swain opened up the final sprint and secured 8th place in the bunch to take 10th overall. Swain said, "I am pleased with the race as I felt really strong in the wind. I am really looking forward to the remaining events of the year."
Team manager Rod Freeman said, "Andy Joined us in May and has made strong progress in his category every since. Andy still wants a few more points this year and he has a real hunger even at this time of the season!"
Next week sees the return of Kettering duo Mike Cowland and Dave Palmer in action for www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis Racing Team at the Elizabethan Road Race in Bridgenorth.
