Two races in one day put www.cyclingbargains.com Racing Team into 7th place in the Ras de Cymru
www.cyclingbargains.com racing team rode well in the hilly road stage over one 53 mile circuit with several long climbs.
The stage was won by Joe Hemmant from London Dynamo with local rider Richard Harris of Cwmcarn Paragon 2nd. However after Cwmcarn Paragon won the team time trail Harris now takes overall lead on GC to hold the yellow jersey. Cwmcarn Paragon riders also occupy 4th, 5th and 7th positions overall.
Carl Dyson of www.cyclingbargains.com RT launched an early attack in the race to claim King of the Mountains points on the first climb. On the 2nd serious climb the race split into 4 groups with Dyson, Palmer and Cowland in the leading group then the deciding break of 4 riders broke clear after just over an hours racing and single riders occupied 6th to 9th places at the finish line. The bunch sprint for 10th place was won yellow jersey holder and prologue winner Tim Wallis. Carl Dyson was 11th, Mike Cowland 15th and Dave Palmer 17th. Andy Swain lost contact with the main bunch on the final climb and came home 9 mins behind stage winner Hemmant. www.cyclingbargains.com RT in the team classification were 7th overall.
www.cyclingbargains.com racing team then rode the team time trial on an undulating 15 mile course to take 8th place, although Dave Palmer lost some time on the final run in this was mainly put down to riding a standard road bike without tri-bars. The 8th place in the TTT lifts www.cyclingbargains.com RT to 5th overall.
BBC Wales Today interviewed the team after the first road stage in which Dave Palmer said, "We aren't too tired, yet!"
Tomorrow sees the next stage on a 3 lap course totalling 68 miles around Usk.
