www.cyclingbargains.com Racing Team off to a flying start

East Midlands based cycle racing team www.cyclingbargains.com – Infinis – Metaltek opened the second week of the race calendar with a string of results following their team launch at Champneys Springs Health Resort last week.

Saturday’s highest placed honours went to 1st category rider, Matt Jennings from Leicester, riding his first race for the team. Jennings came 3rd behind race winner George Atkins, in the opening round of the Darley Moor Circuit Race Series. Jennings led out the sprint from the 6 man break away. Jennings said, “I felt good throughout the race and was confident of a good place. My High5 Energy Source 4:1 really made me feel faster as the race went on!”

Fellow team mate, 2nd category rider, Will Fox, from Loughborough rode the same event and brought the bunch home, sprinting for 7th place. Fox has already secured an 8th, two 4th and 3rd place finishes so far this year. He is over a quarter of the way towards his 1st category licence already. Fox said, “My aim is to secure a 1st category licence during May and with the new team around me I am really motivated to achieve this.”

Elite rider Rob Orr competed in the L’Etoile de Tressignaux Premier Category Race in France on Saturday. Orr was delighted to finish comfortably in the main bunch after over 90 miles of racing despite missing one of his bottles in the earlier feed. The race was won by World Champion Johan Lebon. Orr said, “I thought I was going to cramp up badly towards the end of the race having missed my bottle but my High5 Energy Source prevented this and my legs felt ok.”

Middle markers proved the better of the scratch group in the opening round of the Northants Cycle Race Association race at Middleton. www.cyclingbargains.com – Infinis – Metaltek team mates Michael Cowland, Carl Dyson and Bradley Burbridge finish in the main bunch with a break of over 20 riders having stayed away. Sixteen year old Burbridge rode strongly in his first open road race.

The following day saw Rob Orr in action again in front of an estimated 10,000 spectators in the French Elite race the Manche Atlantique at Plumelec. The race was won by Fabrice Jean Dubos of the continental professional team Besson Chaussures- Sojasun.

Team Manager, Rod Freeman said, "This has been a good weekend for us with the team visible in four races. All the hard work throughout the winter is now starting to take shape. We have a long way to go still but its only March and it is fantastic to see the team kitted out in their new LAS Istrion helmets and Kinesis Racelight bikes."

Orr, Dyson and Fox join fellow team mate Raph Deinhart this coming weekend for the opening round of the British Cycling Premier Calendar, Bikeline 2 day. The 200km three stage, two day road race in North Wales sees the team compete as part of a field of 120 of the UK’s top riders.

Cowland, Burbridge, Andy Swain and David Palmer compete at Old in Northamptonshire in the 2nd round of the NCRA Series
