The team returns from the Abstraction Lincoln GP with a trophy
www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek entered a full team of riders into the 54th Lincoln GP on Sunday, covered by Eurosport and BBC Look North. The team was led by latest promotion to the Elite rankings Jason White with Robert Orr, Raphael Deinhart, Carl Dyson, Will Fox, Matt Fostun, and Michael Cowland. Sadly top local rider Daniel Booth was unable to ride due to a recent back injury.
The race got off to a fast start before climbing Lincoln's famous Michael's Gate into Castle Square, a route repeated eleven times. Lap four saw a breakaway group forming of eleven riders with a further two joining them on lap five. As the pace of the race rose to 27mph www.cyclingbargains.com team-mates Cowland, Fostun and Orr began to suffer after doing all they could to place their team mates as far up the 176 rider field as possible. By lap seven some twenty five riders remained chasing the leaders including White and Dyson. On lap eight Dyson, having ridden an excellent race began to suffer and dropped back. At the finish Russell Downing went on to win, with White finishing in what remained of the broken peloton, to the enthusiastic cheers and applause of an estimated 16,000 strong crowd, one of the biggest the event had seen in recent years.
The hard work of the team gained them the JB Harvey Trophy for the best placed East Midlands team and Team Manager, Rod Freeman said, "This is the largest number of riders we have entered into a Premier Calendar event and were delighted to be able to get Jason and Carl through a very tough race and still come away with a trophy at the same time."
On Saturday Bradley Burbridge, the youngest member of www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek Racing Team showed he was a force to be reckoned with in his first year as a junior, by winning at Darley Moor in a close sprint finish. Bradley said, "Having had a couple of third place finishes over the past few weeks I was delighted to get my first win of the year. I am really looking forward to moving up to the next category and riding with the rest of the team."
The evening before, team mates Matt Jennings and Ben Jeeves rode the opening round of the Friday Night Mountain Bike Series at Sibertoft. Jeeves was delighted to finish 9th just being edged out by Jennings who was 6th.

Despite a strong showing from Plowman Craven Professional Racing Team, www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek Racing Team were still delighted to claim 6th, 9th and 10th when the professionals managed to occupy the top five places.
This weekend sees White, Deinhart and Fox in action at Hillingdon in the Elite Men's Circuit Races as final preparation for the opening round of the Tour Series at Milton Keynes on 21st May at 7pm.
