www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek Racing Team Press Release 15.06.09

The team steps up it's race action with twelve top-15 places in seven days

www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek riders Raphael Deinhart and Rob Orr travelled to Stamfordham in Northumbria for the Beaumont Trophy on Sunday 14th June for the latest round of the British Cycling Premier Calendar Series. The 170km race was conducted in bright sunshine with 139 riders taking to the start line including Olympian Bradley Wiggins riding for the continental based Garmin Slipstream team. Wiggins was using the event as preparation for the Tour de France next month. It was Wiggins who initiated the winning break on the second lap and was quickly joined by 5 other riders. In the end Wiggins was the strongest rider winning alone by almost 2 minutes. For the www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek Racing Team it was the small, punchy, German climber Raphael Deinhart who came home in 15th that was the best placed rider in the team. Deinhart had fought hard in a group of chasers that had splintered in the closing kilometres of the race, and finished just 2 minutes behind the 2nd placed rider. The 15th place on a one day Premier Calendar race ranks alongside his 15th place on stage 2 of the Premier Calendar stage race at Girvan early this year. Rob Orr continued his return to form after long term illness and completed 140km of the race before retiring.

Two riders of the Tour Series www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek squad raced three circuit races in six days in the North of England this week. Jason White and Raphael Deinhart rode on Tuesday at the Tour Series in Blackpool along with James Cambridge, Carl Dyson and Will Fox, before travelling to Southport with James Cambridge, Rob Orr and Matt Fostun for the sixth round of the Tour Series, in which White secured 5th place moving the team into 9th place. They then travelled to Newcastle for the Leazes Park Criterium on Friday. The same team as Southport report to Stoke this Tuesday for round seven of the Tour Series.

Whilst many of the www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek riders were away with the Tour Series in Southport on Thursday this week local riders Bradley Burbridge, Mike Cowland and David Palmer were in fine form in the latest round of the Northants Cycle Racing Association race Series at Naseby. The hilly course was well suited to all three riders and it was Cowland who wound up the pace on the final lap to launch Palmer clear. Palmer escaped with John French in the closing miles of the race but the chasing riders caught them in a thrilling finish just 300m before the line, leaving 16 year old Burbridge to come off Cowland's wheel in the final sprint to take the chequered flag. Cowland was 4th and Palmer after his efforts 10th.

www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek fielded six riders in its home race this weekend, being the Leicestershire RC 2 day. The team was an excellent mix of talent including stage 2 winner from last year Carl Dyson, and overall race winner from last year Will Fox with Matt Fostun, David Palmer, Mike Cowland and 16 year old Bradley Burbridge now riding as a 2nd category rider after an excellent early season. In the opening prologue Fox finished 3rd with Fostun and Dyson joint 7th and the whole team within the top 20. The prologue was won by Matt Bottrill leaving Fox 14 seconds to make up on stage 2 at Mallory Park on Saturday evening. After a series of attacks it was Matt Bottrill who escaped from the main field in the closing miles to take his second win. This left Will Fox to bring the bunch home for 2nd place, but narrowly missing catching Bottrill on the line. Carl Dyson was 10th whilst the rest of the team finished safely in the main bunch. The final stage at Bagworth on Sunday left Fox in 2nd place and www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek needing to take the race to Bottrill. An early break containing Bottrill escaped on the third lap. Fox believed this was too early to succeed and sent team mate Cowland to police the move. The break was soon caught but Bottrill escaped again with another rider and this was the last the race would see the time trial specialist. On lap seven a chasing group escaped from the main group which www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek worked hard to bring it back, even with Dyson there to police it but in the end the escape stayed clear so it was down to Dyson to sprint clear for 3rd place. After 3 stages the race concluded with Bottrill having won each stage, Dyson in 4th place, Fox in 5th and Fostun in 11th on GC. www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek were delighted to also secure the team prize.

Team Manager Rod Freeman summed up the week saying, "We have yet again placed a number of riders into race winning and high finishing positions throughout the country. We are delighted with our recent results and the TV coverage we have received from the Tour Series is already bringing new customers to www.cyclingbargains.com. Other sponsors are also receiving increased brand awareness as a result of the coverage our riders receive on ITV, BBC, local radio, local press and national cycle press. Although we are only half way through 2009 we are already looking ahead to how we can progress in 2010 and are seeking sponsors to support our development of young East Midlands based riders. If anyone wishes to be part of our exciting plans for 2010 I can be contacted by email at rod@cyclingbargains.com"
