The team secures a good win through great teamwork

www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek sent four riders to the VC Lincoln promoted Gerry Thurlow Memorial Road Race on Sunday and returned with the spoils. Michael Cowland won overall and took the first prime while the team put all four riders in the top twelve in a race that has previously been won by former National Road Race Champion Russell Downing and was this year characterised by attacks.

After only 3 of 40 laps Michael joined John Brown and Daniel Kelley in an attack that lasted almost half the race. The field split behind and the chasing group included Michael's teammate David Palmer together with two of the teams Tour Series riders, Will Fox and Matthew Fostun, therefore significantly strengthening the chances of the team taking the win. The threesome worked well together but was inevitably caught and the attacks followed immediately, including many by David, Will and Matt, who managed to come off Will's wheel and take the second prime.

With only 8 laps to go Michael used a failed attack by Matt to launch a rare solo effort which he managed to make stick until the end thanks to the controlling efforts of his teammates behind. Will, Dave and Matt finished 5th, 9th and 12th respectively in their first visits to the closed road circuit at Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln. Michael, Will and Dave will be joined by Carl Dyson in July, when the foursome returns to the Ras de Cymru five day stage race in Wales, a race where they are keen to show their colours.

Meanwhile on Friday night Daniel Booth returned to racing in the in the Cosford evening Mountain Bike Race near Rugby after the birth of his son recently. Daniel came home in third place behind race winner Matt Barrett on the hilly and twisty course. www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek was also able to secure 7th place with Matt Jennings and 8th place with Ben Jeeves in the same event.

On Sunday Raphael Deinhart was 9th in the Nick Clarke memorial road race. Five riders broke clear during the race but Raph was able to gain 4th place in the sprint.

www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek ride the final stage of the ITV covered Tour Series on Thursday night at Southport, an event that has seen them lock horns with some of the top teams in the country including Olympic medallists Ed Clancy and Rob Hayles from the Halfords squad, Malcolm Elliott and Russell Downing from Candi TV, plus National Criterium Champion Dean Downing and Tom Southam from the Rapha squad. Team Manager Rod Freeman said, "This has been a truly fantastic experience for the riders and is a race series we hope the team will return to next year. We think we can feature as one of the top 5 teams next year if we have the right mix of riders, but that takes additional sponsors and some additional experience on the team. We will be talking to a number of leading riders and additional sponsors before the end of the year so we can come back bigger, better and stronger next year."
