The Tour Series, crashes and more for the team!

www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek continued their season in fine form in a number of races last week. Ben Jeeves from Syston, Leicestershire opened the team score sheet on Tuesday night with 2nd place in the bunch sprint at Mallory Park - sadly a rider had managed to slip the pack and escape on his own pushing Jeeves into 3rd place. Jeeves, who also acts as the team physio now needs just 8 points to move up to the next category and if he is able to repeat his 3rd place this week he will have secured it.

On Tuesday Jason White, James Cambridge, Will Fox, Raphael Deinhart and Matt Fostun travelled to Chester with the teams management of Rod Freeman and Andy Swain for the penultimate round of ITV's Tour Series. Fox was on the front from when the flag dropped, but he crashed in pouring rain and although carried on to finish the race, the stormy conditions meant the team had to pick their way through a number of crashes and near misses. www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek were batting to retain 9th place overall in the series but sadly dropped to 10th after the Chester round leaving it all to do in the final round at Southend.

Meanwhile in the latest round of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Race Series 16 year old Bradley Burbridge from Kettering secured his second win of the series when he worked hard to stay clear of the chasing scratch group. Burbridge's second win of the series takes him into 3rd place overall with two races remaining.

Fox continued his unlucky streak the following day at Otley when he crashed again in the sprint finish - this time his injuries and damage to his bike meant he was unable to finish the race leaving Deinhart to be the only team representative to finish, coming home in 30th position.

The Tour Series reached it's final round on Thursday evening in Southend, after 6 weeks of racing in 10 different towns and cities. The www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek Racing Team placed local rider Jason White on the front and battled it out with Southend based BMC Racing Team and Scotland's Endura racing team. In the final sprint - won my Olympic medallist and 2008 National Road Race Champion Rob Hayles - the www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek Racing Team edged BMC into 10th place and Endura into 9th to take 8th place on the night. This was enough to secure them 9th place overall.

On Friday night Leicester rider Matt Jennings won the latest round of the Friday Night Mountain Bike Series at Kilworth Springs with Ben Jeeves coming home on the fast and open course in third place. Saturday saw Raphael Deinhart lead the bunch home at Giro CC Circuit Race to secure 6th place. Deinhart then went on to take 4th place at The Pete's Road Race the following day.

Team manager Rod Freeman said, "Wow! What an excellent week. We have won races, bunch sprints and raced at the highest level of Criterium racing in the UK this week. This year has been very exciting for www.cyclingbargains.com - Infinis - Metaltek so far and we are now starting to think about how we can develop more young talent to be bigger and better in 2010. The Tour Series on ITV has been a major focus for the team this year and has been an excellent experience which we hope to repeat next year, but we now need to concentrate of the remainder of this years season. Racing at this level isn't cheap so we are always seeking additional partners and sponsors in the hope that we can place the East Midlands on the map as a centre of excellence for British Cycling."
