Michael said, “I am still to sit down with Rod and the team to finalise our full race program for 2008 but I am looking forward to the forthcoming season with the new team in my new Orange and white kit!”

The Cycling Bargains Racing Team have today announced National Clarion Road Race and Best All Rounder Champion Michael Cowland will join the team for the 2008 season.

Team Manager, Rod Freeman said, “We have been watching Michael’s development during 2007 and have been in close talks with him for several months. We are delighted he has agreed to ride for the team and he will play an important role in the team. We are building a strong squad for 2008 and hope to capitalize on 2007 results with additional sponsors coming on board.”

With support from fellow Kettering based team rider David Palmer, Michael hopes to improve on his 16th place in last years British Cycling Central Regional road race Championships and aims for more podium places in events such as the Ike Saul Memorial and Compomotive Road Race, were he performed well last year. Michael will also concentrate on defending overall leadership in the season long Northamptonshire Cycle Racing Association’s (NCRA) road race series that again will be sponsored as last year by www.cyclingbargains.com, an internet based cycle component retailer based in Leicestershire.

NCRA Secretary, Dave Birch said, ”The new series of races in 2007 were very competitive and made for interesting racing. The addition of the yellow jersey competition by www.cyclingbargains.com gave riders something to aim for and we are delighted they have agreed to sponsor the series again in 2008. The fact Michael is now part of the team could bring them a home win, but with an increase of riders interested in the series the competition is wide open, which is very exciting!”
