Dyson Brings Home NCRA Yellow Jersey & Takes 2nd In Ed Taylor Memorial RR

In the 3rd round of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Carl Dyson (23) from Syston, Leicestershire, riding for www.cyclingbargains.com racing team finally pulled on the yellow jersey (sponsored by his own team sponsor www.cyclingbargains.com) as points race winner.

Dyson slipped effortlessly into race leadership when Brett Harwood failed to start the race at Old, Northamptonshire on Saturday 15th March. After the opening 2 races Dyson and Harwood was placed equal top on points. Another close challenger for yellow, Matt Barette punctured in the wet conditions.

Dyson played his team tactics in the race with Rod Freeman (37) and Scott Choucino (21) keeping the pace high to prevent the scratch group catching the early markers thus removing any threat of points going to other scratch riders. The tactic paid off with the scratch group containing Dyson and team mate David Palmer (36) coming in some 2 mins behind joint stage winners Chris Sumpter and Garry Townsend.

The following day Dyson and Palmer rode the Ed Taylor Memorial Road Race at Thurlow, Cambridgeshire in strong winds and driving rain. Dyson won the even the year before from and early attack and tried the same tactic this year, but was caught by a chasing break of 11 riders. The break of 12 riders split with 3 riders attacking, but a crash in the leading group in closing miles meant the race was won by Daniel Koogan alone and Dyson brought the remaining chasing break home to secure 2nd place. Having made the break with Dyson, Palmer was disappointed his race ended early with a puncture at 10 miles to go.

Dyson, Palmer, Coucino and Jon Crookes are all due to ride next Sunday in www.cyclingbargains.com racing team colours in the Rockingham Forest Jack Granger Memorial Road Race at Middleton.
