Dyson retains yellow at NCRA Series

In the 4th and penultimate round of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Spring Road Race Series Carl Dyson (23) from Syston, Leicestershire, riding for www.cyclingbargains.com racing team retained his overall lead in the competition when he came home in 3rd place.

In wet and windy conditions Dyson got into a break on the 3rd lap with all the major players for overall victor. On the final climb to the finish Dyson was beaten to the line by Matt Barette but out sprinted early series yellow jersey holder and still nearest rival for overall victory Brett Harwood by one place. The top 5 places overall now all sit within reach of overall victory in the series but Dyson has no intention of this happening. The final race takes place at 2pm on next Saturday at Great Gidding.

The race saw the return from injury of past series winner Michael Cowland (32) from Kettering who also rides for www.cyclingbargains.com racing team. Cowland came home in the fragmented bunch to complete his first race of 2008 saying, "It was a really tough day out there today, but I am delighted to be back racing and am looking forward to returning to my old form over the next few weeks."

Team mates David Palmer (36) and Rod Freeman (37) also came home wet and cold in the fragmented bunch to congratulate Dyson on retaining overall leadership. Speaking on the rest of the season team manager Freeman said, "We have had a great opening month to the 2008 season and already achieved a number of our early season objectives. We will announce three guest riders for major events in the next week or so along with a number of high profile races we are scheduled to ride. 2008 looks set to be an exciting season for the team!"
